think i'll go for a walk

laying in the grass, whee!

only a few more days until the vintage extravaganza/open house/drinkathon/etc!

i spent monday tooling around with my friend, claire, and we stocked up on lots of vintage goods!

lots of hats, purses, scarves, dresses and t-shirts galore! of course, i had to spend some time relaxing in the sun with my own stash of hats and sunglasses. . .

oh oh oh

i've been a busy little bee, getting ready for the first friday open house! my friend hailey is catering yummy raw foods (some sourced by my friend claire's farm!) and i will be getting some local brew delivered to the store on friday morning!

everything will be 25% off - in honor of this being my 25th year on this still-beautiful earth! i will also have $5 & $10 dollar racks full of great vintage! i ventured to delaware & maryland yesterday and came back with TONS of great vintage - summer dresses, beautiful clutches, great t-shirts - the whole shebang! picture preview tomorrow!

DON'T FORGET - FRIDAY, MAY 1st - 6 PM-11pm!

Little Edie

I currently have both the original Grey Gardens & this newfangled version at my house and have been enjoying studying up on my Hamptons Crazytownicity - and have come to some conclusions.

CONCLUSION #1 - I want to BE Drew Barrymore
CONCLUSION #2 - I want to start invoking Old Crazy Little Edie in my wardrobe decisions (much to the inevitable dismay of the boyfriend)

drew as little edie, going off into the world on her lonesome

i have a few of these floppy straw hats in the store! perfect!

the real deal beales
(i am going to wear that little edie outfit this summer, i swear it)

fortunately i have all of my own hairs, but i might rock this scarf look

update, i will DEFINITELY rock the scarf look

happy anniversary

it's been six months that i've been open at the shop! happy halfbirthday to me.

it wasn't the best or most opportune time to open a little fledgling like mine, but business has been steady, i've got some great people coming in regularly, and i hopefully have started to wedge myself into kennett culture. i think i've steadied myself and have been able to spend some quality time with those i love, and i hope to be able to continue this for another six million months!

here's some polaroids of the store's opening that i never posted. we're gonna have another party soon, so put your vintage drinkin' shoes on, and i'll keep you updated!

fashion idolizing

BIBA

wiki

Background: Barbara Hulanski opened her first shop in 1964, overflowing with svelte girls and dresses upon dresses upon dresses upon dresses. Made an instant hit with her prior mail-order catalogue, Biba was affordable, beautiful and abundant - sounds like the original Forever21, except that the dresses actually stood up to wear, tear, and time.

years ago, i bought a marc jacobs blouse with an aaaamazing art deco/art nouveau print. of course, i immediately fell in love with it and am still getting lots of summer wear out of it. i started getting into vintage biba recently and realized that MJ pulled the print from a line Biba put out years ago. Fashion worlds colliding!

i want more!
